A Christmas Surprise for the residents of Autumn Oaks Assisted Living

Last summer during Mission Camp, our teens noticed that the residents at Autumn Oaks could benefit from some new blankets, so they decided to make tie blankets for all the residents

Wrap them in pretty Christmas paper and deliver them as Christmas gifts.

The residents were so surprised and delighted, one of their caretakers told us later, “The residents LOVE the blankets! They ooed about them through supper and smiled with joy that the kids made them and it was the kids idea too! No doubt they will sleep very well underneath the blankets! Lots of compliments on each other’s patterns! Great job!”  Thanks for sharing Morgan.

Cathedral / Basilica Tour

We had a glorious day Church hopping in Milwaukee during this Christmas Season.  We marveled at the beauty of.Historic Old St Mary.  We celebrated Mass at the Cathedral of St John the Evangelist, on his feast day, with Father Jeff Haines; and we tour the Cathedral learning about it’s significance in our Archdiocese.  And we were amazed by the beauty, majesty, and history of the Basilica of St Josephat.  We are truly blessed to be so intimately connected to the Catholic Community of this Milwaukee Archdiocese.

Autumn Oaks Tie Blanket Project

During Middle School Mission Camp last summer, students discovered a need in the Slinger community that they would like to help fill – a way for Picture1.pngthem to give back to people right here in Slinger.  The residents of Autumn Oaks Assisted Living are in need of new blankets to keep them warm this winter.   The staff at Autumn Oaks is very excited about the idea.  This is a great community service project opportunity.

  • Saturday Dec. 17th from 10 am to 1 pm – make and gift wrap 28 Tie-Blankets
  • Thursday Dec. 29th at 10 am – deliver the gifts for Christmas
  • What you will need to help in this project :

If you would like to be a part of the project but cannot afford to buy the fleece (about $20.00), please let me know, we do have some fabric already donated.
